Community Service Programs (CSP)

GFWC Signature Program Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention

GFWC Greater Ocala Woman’s Club works to raise awareness on domestic violence by supporting existing activities, working with various established programs and organizations, and initiating educational opportunities for club members and local citizens.  The Signature Program’s goal is to increase awareness of and help prevent the widespread occurrence of violence against women in communities across the nation—and the globe. Areas of focus include Intimate Partner Violence, Child Abuse, Teen Dating Violence, Campus Sexual Assault, Elder Abuse, Violence Against Native American Women, Military Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking.

Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention

The goal of GFWC’s Signature Program is to increase awareness and prevent violence against women worldwide, with a focus on human trafficking. GFWC Clubwomen create awareness campaigns to educate communities about human trafficking. We also advocate for legislation to hold traffickers accountable and oppose laws that decriminalize human trafficking.

Arts & Culture

Explore Your Creative Side

The GFWC-Greater Ocala Woman’s Club Arts Community Service Program encourages members to promote and support arts activities in all communities. It is designed to inspire clubwomen to explore the creative ambiance within their lives. Create programs and projects that include art, music, dance, drama, theatre, and other arts-related areas, both traditional and innovative. Art plays an important part in the lives of GFWC members, as Art helps to instill confidence, provides opportunities, and broadens club women’s horizons. Moreover, members are the catalysts in their communities for encouraging and actively promoting all forms of art.

  • Engage our communities through the arts by raising awareness of the unlimited benefits created through arts programs
  • Educate others on and promote the achievements of women in the arts
  • Develop art opportunities for people with disabilities and foster youth community art

Civic Engagement & Outreach

Civic and social responsibilities are key components in our lives.

Civic Engagement is designed to actively connect members with effective projects and activities relating to civic engagement. This program focuses on the following areas:

Citizenship

  • Educate club members and local communities on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship
  • Use resources, including GFWC Resolutions, to increase patriotism, pride in heritage, and active community involvement
  • Encourage active involvement in issues that affect the world around you

Veterans Affairs

  • Educate club members and local communities on needs of military families
Advocate for legislation that supports active and veteran military personnel and their families
Support military personnel and veterans returning to community living

Emergency Preparedness

  • Educate club members and local communities on disaster readiness, recovery, and relief
  • Work with law enforcement agencies and first responders to increase public awareness
  • Develop community programs and coalitions to address disaster recovery and relief

Safety

  • Educate club members and local communities on home, road, and Internet safety
  • Provide programs, tools, and training
  • Create safer homes and communities through awareness

Education & Libraries

Educate yourself. Inform others. Create change.

The Education & Libraries CSP works to improve literacy and education awareness in communities at home and around the world. Clubwomen are dedicated to promoting a commitment to literacy and lifelong learning by:

  • Encouraging members and others to foster and support educational opportunities for all ages in their communities
  • We promote and support a deserving recipient for a Fall and Spring scholarship opportunity at College of Central Florida.
  • Educating members and others on ways to improve low adult and youth literacy rates
  • Supporting libraries in their efforts to provide information/materials and educational opportunities

Environment

Our natural resources are among our most precious treasures.

The Environment Program is designed for members to gain an appreciation for our environment and community’s natural resources including water, trees, plants, air, land, and wildlife.

Through preservation, maintenance, and restoration of our natural resources, it strives to educate members about the importance of beautifying our communities, preserving, maintaining, and restoring natural resources, and stimulating citizen action to address these concerns and think and care about the footprint we make.

Health & Wellness

 Together, we can serve humanity.

Health & Wellness is designed to address the issues that affect the well-being of individuals, families, and communities by providing opportunities and resources to meet and address needs through volunteering. This program develops and implements projects that involve:

  • Living a healthy lifestyle
  • Increasing awareness, prevention, research, and treatment of disease
  • Personal development
  • Addressing the troubles of hunger, insufficient housing, and homelessness
  • Prevention or correction financial difficulties
